The new 2018 VW Tiguan has been started in dealerships across the US over the past years with the updated version of the 2.0-liter TSI engine
The latest 3B version of VW’s EA888 is expected to offer improved fuel economy and 20 percent more torque in the new Tiguan, compared to the 1.8-liter TSI currently available in the Passat, Jetta, Beetle, And golf models.
VW claims That most components of the engine have been updated, including the cast iron block, the valve springs and the aluminum alloy piston and cylinder head.
The new TSI petrol engine runs on a modified Miller combustion cycle that is unique to the VW Group to make it more efficient in day-to-day driving conditions. Overall, the new 184hp engine produces a top torque of only 1,600 rpm at 4,400 rpm and 221lb-ft.
VW claims that the new engine design for a higher fuel consumption is the sophisticated valve control system on the intake camshaft, which can change from short to long valve opening depending on the engine load.
The new EA888 3B petrol unit will be the only engine option offered in the 2018 VW Tiguan, with other VW models planned to get it in the near future. source:carscoop.com
