Last week, the automaker announced that the Droptop would be launched sometime in October, but did not specify an exact date. This short teaser video posted on the official Corvette Facebook page confirms the car’s unveiling date and shows the car from the side.
Chevrolet drops the hood of the C8 Corvette
It is not uncommon for automakers to launch the convertible versions of their sports cars and supercars more than 12 months after the arrival of the hardtop model. Obviously, Chevrolet wasted no time in delivering the new Corvette convertible. This is not particularly surprising when you consider that the car manufacturer already presented the finished design of the car at the unveiling of the coupe in July.
All signs point to the Corvette Stingray Convertible, which receives a collapsible hardtop. The images of the car also show that behind the seats large buttresses are attached. Unfortunately, the car does not have a clear engine cover like the coupe – and you can attribute this to the design changes required by the folding top.
We are also particularly curious to see how Chevrolet has found the space to stow the roof and its mechanism, considering that the engine is positioned directly behind the passenger compartment to make room for a storage compartment in the rear. Luckily we only have a few weeks to find out.
The propulsion of the Corvette Stingray convertible will be the same naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 as that of the Coupé’s, with 490 hp in its basic configuration and 495 with the Z51 performance package and exhaust available, while a recently released document revealed that the open The hood only weighs 46 kg more.
The 2020 Corvette Convertible will make its debut on 10.02.19. https://s.chevy.com/kuxbc
